Dear Clovis Colleagues,

We hope you had a restful Thanksgiving vacation and have exciting plans for the upcoming holiday break. Two weeks more. We can’t wait.

Our ACE union organizing committee is very thankful for all of our wonderful co-workers and all that we already accomplished this year. By working together, we’ve won extended sick leave, improved substitute coverage, and a commitment to hire more IAs.

In case you missed them, check out the “hopes for the new year” of some of our committee here: https://www.facebook.com/ClovisEducators

But we aren’t done. We still have more improvements to make in Clovis. In fact, members of our ACE committee will be meeting with the Clovis Executive Cabinet next week to continue to push for fixes for our remaining Fall Forward issues. We will report out on our meeting next week. You can support this effort here.

Alphabet Soup

While we are working hard with our Clovis co-workers to make improvements, it seems like the Faculty Senate continues to rearrange the deck chairs. In case you missed it, the Clovis Teachers Operation apparently no longer exists. Now it appears former members of the Faculty Senate and proponents of the short-lived CTO have created a new organization. We are happy to see that there is now agreement that Clovis Educators need a union. We are not sure how long this new organization will last, but we know they are affiliated with a Goyette law firm, which represents very few teachers and has a questionable track record. More on this soon.

Proud of Our Team

As we look towards the new year, we are optimistic about our next steps. We are proud to be building ACE — an organization of Clovis educators that is locally led while also being part of an organization of educators from across California.

We are also excited to announce two upcoming in-person ACE meetings. Please put them on your calendars!

  • SPED Educator Meeting: Please join us for a meet-up hosted by the ACE Special Education Committee on Monday, December 6th, 3:30 pm-5:00 pm. This will be a good opportunity to ask questions and get updates. RSVP here.
  • Save the Date for our Conservative Educator Townhall Meeting: Join conservative educators who are also CTA union leaders to discuss building strong unions and negotiating strong contracts. Our meeting will take place Wednesday, January 12, 2022 at the Clovis Veterans Hall. More info and RSVP link to come.

As always, if you have any questions or want to do more to support ACE, let us know!

Sincerely,

Your ACE Organizing Committee
